SADI-S or SOADJ
Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S) is a Bariatric Metabolic surgical procedure that combines both a sleeve gastrectomy and One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB). It is also commonly performed as a Sleeve One Anastomosis Duodenal-Jejunal Bypass (SOADJ) where less of the small bowel is bypassed leading to a decreased risk of nutritional deficiency long term.
SADI-S/SOADJ is a highly effective procedure for the treatment and resolution of obesity related co-morbidities such as diabetes in addition to weight loss. It has an added benefit of a small bowel to small bowel anastomosis which is less prone to ulcer formation compared to other gastric bypass options. This means that it may be preferentially utilised in patients unable to cease anti-inflammatory medication.
