Incisional Hernia

Incisional hernias occur when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weakness in the abdominal wall at the site of a previous surgical incision. They can occur months to even years after abdominal surgery.

Incisional hernias commonly present as a lump near a scar line, sometimes with discomfort or pain.

Management is varied depending on the location, contents and size of the hernia and can be completed via laparoscopic (keyhole) or open approaches.
