Femoral Hernia
Femoral hernias occur when abdominal contents protrude through the femoral canal near the groin crease. They are more commonly seen in older women.
These hernias are rarer than inguinal hernias but have a higher risk of complication if not repaired. For this reason, surgical repair is generally recommended.
Repair is often completed laparoscopically (keyhole), or an open approach can be performed in some circumstances.
